Two Scouts- I wrote this several years ago for a Fanfiction contest on a forum called Sable Tears. The story is my own spin on what happened after the War of the Ring (LOTR). Saruman is in the Shire, causing havoc, and the armies of Merry and Pippin will do all in their power to stop him. Not exactly an accurate telling, as I haven't ever read the books, but I enjoyed writing it. The story takes place in the forest, where the two scout brothers Kili and Fili Overhill are traveling back to Helms Rane, the battle fortress of Merry and Pippin. They're captured by orcs and taken to Bree, where Saruman has set up his evil camp. Back at Helms Rane, the hobbit warriors are concerned, and they slowly begin to realize that Kili and Fili won't be coming back. Or will they? To what stakes will they go to find the scout brothers? Read and find out.
Two Minutes to Glory- This is actually a poem written in a short story form, with 9 chapters that tell you about the day of a race through a filly's eyes. She's about to run against males in the Kentucky Derby. Like all athletes, she has doubts about whether she'll be able to make it. To find out if she does, read it.
Red Run- I wrote this short story for a Runaway Contest. I had to write a story no longer than 1,000 words, but I didn't want to go a stereotypical route with this story. I wanted it to be original, and not about some runaway kid who didn't like something in his/her life. So I decided to write it about a captain in Iraq. Captain Rory "Red" Michaels does something horrendous in the face of battle, and is made a hero. How does the story end, though? Read it.
I Promise- Written for the Forgotten Contest on Figment this year (2011), a girl wakes up without a memory to remember. She can't remember why she's up on the rooftop, why she's bleeding... or why she's holding a gun. At the end, she promises to find out the truth, whatever the cost.
The Cry of David- This story of mine was a semi-finalist in the Phlash Photo Contest on Figment, 2011. Lizzy is walking through the forest to go read in her favorite tree. Thoughts of a boy she once loved enters her mind, but she pushes them away, telling herself that David was a liar. He's an odd one, dangerous even. She meets him in the forest, though, much to her dislike. However, something happens that is completely unexpected. Read to find out what.
Jace- This is my 444 word story that placed second in the Mustache Contest. While I personally think I've written better, I can't argue with a placing. *smiles* The story takes place in an alleyway, where a girl named Bekah is waiting for her boyfriend, Jace, to arrive. He has something to tell her; something that's life changing. Literally. Read to find out what that "something" is.
The Lead Mare- I wrote this for the Seventeen Magazine Contest, which is actually still going on as I write. The ending will be in April of next year, and the proze will be *5,000* dollars. Yeah, I'm being serious. So, yes, Please Feel Free To Heart It. Anyway, the story is about a girl and her father who are on a camping trip up in the mountains. The scene is set at sunset. The girl is overlooking a valley of wild horses, and is thinking about the change in heart she's having about her father, the man who left her when she was little and has now returned after the death of her mother. Read the story (and don't forget to heart it, if you're a user on Figment) to find out how the lead mare helps the girl see the light.
Jack- Written for the Bronxwood Contest on Figment, 2011. It's about a boy living in a ghetto town, and about how the sound of a bullet rocketing off the walls of an alleyway changes his life forever. To find out why, and how, read the story. Feel free to tell me what you think of it as well.
